The trailer for Vamps, starring Alicia Silverstone, is like a stake through the heart

I know we’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover here, and we’re usually pretty good about reserving judgment about a movie until we see it (usually…), but the trailer for VAMPS all but solidifies that it’s a bloodless comedy that might as well be buried and forgotten. A shame, but I can’t say I’m surprised; it has always seemed like an iffy proposition. Plus, it has been sitting around for a while. (It went into production two years ago.)

Directed by Amy Heckerling (who once upon a time dmade a wonderful movie called FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH) VAMPS does have a packed cast in its favor, including Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Wallace Shawn, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Stevens, Richard Lewis, Justin Kirk, Kristen Johnston, Malcolm McDowell, Zak Orth and Marilu Henner.

Goody (Silverstone) and Stacy (Krysten Ritter) are addicted to the night life, clubbing, hooking up and always looking for the next thrill, all the while keeping a big a secret-they happen to be modern-day vampires. But even with lifetimes of dating experience behind them, the duo realizes they still have a lot to learn about love when Stacy unexpectedly falls for the son of a vampire hunter, and Goody runs into the man of her dreams from decades earlier.

With their destinies at stake, the girls are faced with a difficult choice; give up their eternal youth for a chance at love, or continue to live their uncomplicated fabulously single lives forever.

VAMPS hits theaters November 2nd and DVD/Blu-ray November 13th.
