Trailer: Diablo Rojo PTY is Panama’s first horror movie

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Director Sol Moreno's film DIABLO ROJO PTY is already available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, thanks to the folks at The Horror Collective, and we wanted to draw a little extra attention to this one because it's being marketed as "Panama's first-ever horror film". It's always cool to see more places getting in on the horror action.

Written and produced by J. Oskura Nájera, the film was inspired by the Costa Rican and Panamanian folklore tale of La Tulivieja. The synopsis:

A "Diablo Rojo" bus driver, his helper, a priest, and two policemen fall victim to a mysterious spell and end up lost somewhere in the Chiriqui jungle, where they will have to survive the creatures that inhabit the roads, with the old bus as their only refuge.

The cast includes Carlos Carrasco, Julian Urriola, Leo Wiznitzer, Renan Fernandez, Simon Tejeira, Mariela Aragón Chiari, Blas Valois, Alejandra Araúz, Natalia Beluche, and Moyra Andreina Angeles.

The Horror Collective's Jonathan Barkan described DIABLO ROJO PTY as "a total throwback to the '80s horror films I grew up watching", and '80s comparisons are something that always get me interested in a horror project.
