There’s nothing like running a story from TMZ to start your day off right, but as it concerns the genre’s love/hate man-child that is Eli Roth, I figured… why the f*ck not! According to the trash entertainment site, Roth recently almost died while kayaking off the coast of Careyes. How? By being attacked… by sea urchins!

While that sounds exciting as hell, the actual story is not. After Roth’s kayak capsized a mile off shore, he tried climbing on a rock, and while trying to gain balance after being hit by a wave, he stepped on some urchins, which stabbed more than 200 spikes into the bottom of his foot! Before the poison was able to spread through his entire body, doctors were able to remove the spikes out of his swollen foot, hence Roth almost died.

Say what you will, but stepping on spikes is f*cked up. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. I can’t even imagine how intensely painful that shit must have been. Now if he was smart, he’d use that pain to get his creative juices flowing, and insert something similar into his next film. Stepping on spikes? Why the hell not? Falling into a pit of sea urchins? I can dig it, yo!
