IFC Films is shaping up to be a friend of the genre, releasing more and more horror films through their DVD and Video On Demand label. The fine folks at Fangoria have learned that IFC has picked up not one, but two international horror flicks for some domestic distribution, both of which sound pretty awesome.
The first being the Spanish film PAINTBALL, a film we’ve been following for awhile now, and even showed you a few bloody clips earlier this year. Directed by Daniel Benmayor, PAINTBALL follows a group of contestants (led by Brendan Mackey and Jennifer Matter) in the titular contest deep in the woods discover that some unexpected players have joined the game—using real weapons.
It’s like CHILD’S PLAY 3 all over again. Nice! PAINTBALL is set for a VOD release of January 29.
The other film is coming from Australia called COFFIN ROCK (pictured below), written and directed by Rupert Glasson, about a young married woman (Lisa Chappell) who drunkenly sleeps with a stranger; when she becomes pregnant, the one-night stand begins a psychopathic campaign to prove the baby is his.
Whoa, now that sounds f*cked up! We caught a bit of COFFIN ROCK about a year ago, but haven’t seen much of it since. That’s about to change however, as COFFIN ROCK is geared up for a VOD release of February 3, 2010.
