Infinity Pool: Brandon Cronenberg sci-fi thriller has already received a digital release

Brandon Cronenberg’s sci-fi thriller Infinity Pool, starring Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth, has received a digital release

Infinity Pool, the latest sci-fi thriller from director Brandon Cronenberg, just reached theatre screens at the end of January, but now distributor NEON has revealed that they have already given the film a digital release as well! Infinity Pool is now available for digital purchase, and you can get it on Amazon at THIS LINK.

Cronenberg wrote the screenplay for Infinity Pool, as he did for his two previous feature films, Possessor and Antiviral. This time, he tells the following story: James and Em are enjoying an all-inclusive beach vacation when a fatal accident exposes the resort’s perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism, reckless violence, and surreal horrors.

The film stars Alexander Skarsgard (The Northman), Cleopatra Coleman (In the Shadow of the Moon), and Mia Goth (Pearl).

Financing for Infinity Pool came from NEON, Topic Studios, Telefilm Canada, and the Croatian Film Fund. Film Forge’s Karen Harnisch and Andrew Cividino, Elevation Pictures’ Noah Segal and Christina Piovesan, and Rob Cotterill are the producers, with Daniel Kresmery and Jonathan Halperyn co-producing for Hero Squared and Anita Juka doing the same for 4 Film. Skarsgard serves as executive producer alongside NEON’s Tom Quinn, Jeff Deutchman, and Emily Thomas, Topic Studios’ Michael Bloom, Maria Zuckerman, and Ryan Heller, and Celluloid Dreams’ Hengameh Panahi and Charlotte Mickie.

Cronenberg had some trouble securing an R rating for Infinity Pool. The film initially received an NC-17 from the ratings board at the Motion Picture Association for “some graphic violence and sexual content”. Cronenberg had to recut the film and resubmit it to get the R rating for “graphic violence, disturbing material, strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use and some language.” But he said the R-rated cut of Infinity Pool is not “dramatically different” than the NC-17 cut.

Did you catch Infinity Pool in theatres? Will you be watching it at home now that it’s been given a digital release? Share your thoughts on this news by leaving a comment below. I didn’t see Infinity Pool on the big screen, but I’ll be watching it on the small screen at some point. After X and Pearl, I’ll watch Mia Goth in anything.
