Is there a web-based sequel to Idiocracy starring Terry Crews in the works?

President Comacho with a gun

IDIOCRACY was both hilarious and astute in its societal observation, two qualities rarely seen in concert for a major motion picture.

Only you wouldn’t know it, as for reasons unknown Fox complete threw the movie by the wayside and released it in a mere seven cities with barely an ounce of promotion.  IDIOCRACY finished its theatrical run with a grand domestic total of $444,093 but was thankfully rediscovered on DVD and has since developed something of a cult following.  So for all you fans out there, the time has come to put your effort where your mouth is – you might be able to make a difference and bring an IDIOCRACY sequel to fruition.

In IDIOCRACY, Terry Crews (THE EXPENDABLES 2) played “five-time Ultimate Smackdown champion and porn superstar President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho,” a performance that I think most of us can agree unapolagetically stole the show.  Which is just as well, as Crews recently revealed that he’s actually been in talks with writer/director Mike Judge and Fox about bringing Comacho back in web-based for.  “We’re going to see what it becomes, but we got approval from Fox to do some stuff.  We’re going to start off on the internet and do some small interstitials with Camacho.”

So if you want to see more from the hilarious (and somewhat scarily prophetic) world of IDIOCRACY, then stay tuned for further news of when it will be appearing and how you can support it.  As Crews said, “we’ve just got to gauge the interest and Fox wants to start slow… you’ve got to let it take off.”
