Jason Blum insists Happy Death Day franchise destined to be a trilogy!

During an interview with GameSpot while promoting the upcoming Hulu film series WELCOME TO THE BLUMHOUSE, producer Jason Blum stated that HAPPY DEATH DAY 3 is still a priority at Blumhouse, despite HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U's disappointing box-office. Which is good news for any fans of the franchise (such as myself)!

Here's the pertinent excerpt:

It’s a trilogy. I’ve got to make the third one. Maybe after Freaky, we’ll figure it out. Both of us really want to do it. So hopefully we’ll figure it out. That’s a perfect [premium video-on-demand] movie. Universal has this agreement–17 days in the theater. The same as Freaky, 17 days in a theater and then [it] goes to PVOD. We should make Happy Death Day 3 for that system. I mean, if that movie isn’t right for it, I don’t know what is. So that’s what it would be…I think most of my movies going forward will work very well in that system–will work very well with a shortened theatrical window, then going straight to premium VOD. I think that that system will be very good for Blumhouse.

And here's the official synopsis for the first film:

Happy Death Day centered on a blissfully self-centered collegian who wakes up on her birthday with the eerie feeling that she’s experienced the events of this day before. When a masked killer suddenly takes her life in a brutal attack, she magically wakes up unharmed. Now, the frightened young woman must relive the same day over and over until she figures out who murdered her.

Obviously, no official start or release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted! Meanwhile, you can check out HAPPY DEATH DAY HERE!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the HAPPY DEATH DAY films? And if so, clamouring for a third one as well? Either way, sound off below!
