JoBlo.com does Cannes

Last Updated on September 22, 2021

Funny
how life works sometimes. Just 6 weeks ago, the Arrow and I were
preparing to hit the Cote D’Azur for yet another year of the Cannes
Film Festival
, but then he got a part in Eric Red’s latest film
(more on that HERE)
and just a month after that, my doctor told me that it might not be
a “great idea” for me to travel with my current health
problems. Bugh. Double-bugh. Needless to say, we were both severely
disappointed (although at least his was for a good reason!), but
alas, no use crying over that shit now.

That
said, we didn’t have any problems getting another JoBlo-er to cover
the event this year, and that person is none other than Jenny
Karakaya
, the ying to our male hormonial yang on the site. Jenny
has been kicking it on JoBlo.com for over a year now, with many
interviews, set reports as well as coverage of red carpets and most
recently, the Tribeca Film Festival, so we have no doubt that she’ll
continue the consistently kick-arse Cannes coverage that we’ve been
offering on the site since 2004
20052006.

Remember when I got this picture “with” Salma Hayek?
Awesome!

As
opposed to my Johnny Depp, Salma Hayek and Monica Bellucci fetishes
of years past, you might have to wade through some of her own Bono
obsessions (yes, he, the Edge and the rest of the Irish crew will be
there this year to present their film called U2 3D), but other than
that, we should be able to get you her opinions on all of the films
presented at the Festival that might interest our audience,
including the Coen bros’ latest, Tarantino’s longer version of DEATH
PROOF, Won Kar Wai’s first English-language film and many others.

The
festival starts today and runs until May 27th, so keep JoBlo.com on
your dial for all that good fun right here. You can also keep
checking coolness out on their official website (and mighty well
updated) RIGHT
HERE
.

PS:
It’s to note that I am shooting to improve myself by July, so that I
can join about 10 other staff-members at this year’s San Diego Comic
Con. If I can make it there, I can make it anywhere. Oh…that’s NY,
isn’t it? Whatever, you get what I’m saying.
