Details have been kept under wraps for Neill Blomkamp’s ELYSIUM. In a recent article about Jodie Foster’s BEAVER (don’t you love saying that?), LA Times made a passing reference to her upcoming role in the film which not only confirmed her involvement but also revealed her character.
Foster will appear as a head of state on an alien planet. That’s all we know right now. However, there is a rumor floating around that the film’s plot concerns humans battling an alien race for the right to colonize another planet. Take that with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed, but it sounds plausible.
ELYSIUM is Blomkamp’s anticipated follow-up to DISTRICT 9. In addition to Foster, the cast also includes Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura and Bill Fichtner. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2013.
