Jodie Whittaker saves the world in trailer for Doctor Who’s 12th season

Audiences will soon be launched into brand-new adventures through space and time as it's been announced that the 12th season of Doctor Who will debut on BBC America on New Years Day. Jodie Whittaker will be reprising her role of The Doctor, and she'll be joined by Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Yasmin (Mandip Gill) as her team of companions. BBC America has released a new trailer for the upcoming season, which teases an awful lot of trouble for the Time Lord.

In the trailer, you can catch a glimpse of the return of the Cybermen, but showrunner Chris Chibnall told The Radio Times that the nefarious villains will be a little different this time around. "I really wanted to see Jodie against the Cybermen," Chibnall said. "Cybermen feel like an important part of the rogues’ gallery and we’ve done something slightly different with them this year–there was a particular story I wanted to tell. They’re just relentless, the Cybermen. They just don’t stop."

Doctor Who will return to BBC America on January 1, 2020.
