Kidman, Theron & Robbie enter Oscar race with a bang in Bombshell trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In the new movie BOMBSHELL stars Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, and Margot Robbie play Gretchen Carlson, Megyn Kelly and Kayla Pospisil, three women who came together to take down former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes (John Lithgow) for sexual misconduct. The new trailer for the movie puts all three stars front and center, and over the course of a few minutes, each proves why they – along with the movie itself – could be forces to be reckoned with come awards season.

Kicking things off with Kate McKinnon’s role in the movie, you can tell writer Charles Randolph (THE BIG SHORT) and director Jay Roach are going for Fox News’ throat, blending comedy with the unsettling atmosphere behind the scenes of the operation. The trailer as a whole is brisk and entertaining (and fit perfectly to Billie Eilish's "bad guy"), and a teases a movie that looks incisive, hilarious, shocking and all with an incredible ensemble at its core, which is enough to make it a major player in the awards discussion come the end of the year.

Some people have had early screenings of the movie, and while reviews aren't up yet the response has been that Robbie and Theron, in particular, are strong cases for Best Supporting Actress, and the movie as a whole is fantastic. The rest of the ensemble includes Mark Duplass, Connie Britton, Rob Delany, Malcolm McDowell, Allison Janney, Alice Eve, Alanna Ubach and more.
