Morbius: Jared Leto Interview

After several years of pandemic-related delays, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe entry Morbius finally hits theatres this weekend. Filming on this actually predates Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the film has indeed been brought up to date within the popular Spider-Verse, and while our full review will only drop later this week, we had the opportunity to sit down and talk with star Jared Leto about his long-awaited superhero epic.

Leto is known as someone who likes to vanish into his characters, with two of his more recent roles in House of Gucci and WeCrashed relying heavily on state-of-the-art makeup, In Morbius, to depict the transformation from the human Dr. Michael Morbius to his vampiric alter-ego, CGI was used so that the beast can peak out throughout Leto’s entire performance, and the result is one that the actor thinks makes really good use of CGI as an actor’s tool. He also discusses his potential involvement in the franchise and weighs in on his debut as an action hero, with this perhaps the first genuinely heroic part he’s played in an action film to date.

Morbius hits theatres on Friday, and we’ll have plenty of Morbius coverage, including interviews with most of the main cast, coming throughout the week. You can catch our full review Wednesday evening!
