Following Rachel Nichols and Lee Byung-Hun in to GI JOE, are Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko on ‘Lost’) and Said Taghmaoui (who wins the prize for first name I ever heard to have four different vowels in a row). Some of you might not recognise Taghmaoui, but he has been in I HEART HUCKABEES, THREE KINGS, and more recently, he was the dude who promises Val Kilmer some hot young broad in SPARTAN. Here’s the plot of the film: a European-based military unit known as Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity (G.I.J.O.E.), a hi-tech, international force of special operatives takes on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer. Although god knows what that means, since that was the same basic plot of the 1987 animated movie, and that thing ended up being about reptilian aliens, a broadcast energy transmitter, Serpentor being a huge douchebag, and a bunch of freaky little dudes that run around and shout ‘lalalalala’. Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play ‘Heavy Duty’ (ordnance expert) and Taghmaoui will play ‘Breaker’ (communications).
