Adventures in Babysitting getting a Disney Channel remake

adventures in babysitting

The 1987 comedy ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING from Chris Columbus is one of those great movies you can watch every few years and still get a kick out of it. Elizabeth Shue starred as a babysitter who winds up getting more than she bargained for when she and the three kids she's babysitting venture off into some shenanigans that almost get them killed. There was a sort-of remake a few years ago with Jonah Hill called THE SITTER; it’s essentially the same movie but with a lot more swearing. It just lost points because it didn’t have Shue.

The kid adventure film is getting an official remake now courtesy of Disney; they have announced FURTHER ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING will be coming soon to the Disney Channel. It’s being written by Tiffany Paulsen (NANCY DREW), and stars Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) and Sofia Carson (Disney’s Descendants) as two competing babysitters who go on the hunt for a missing child.

I’m not sure of the point of classifying this as a remake if it has nothing to do with the original film. I can’t imagine people who watched the first film coming out to support this and the demo of the Disney Channel is going to wonder they the title refers to more adventures when they can’t recall the first adventure! I’m old.
