This news is surprising no one but Milla Jovovich and director hubby Paul WS Anderson are returning to star in and direct RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, the fifth installment in the horror franchise. Filming on RETRIBUTION is scheduled to begin this October for a 2012 release.
I’m not exactly sure if horror fans still get really excited over the RESIDENT EVIL franchise (you tell me…) but Jovovich and Anderson seem to get some money enjoyment out of it and get to spend time together as a family while working so I guess more power to em. And in fairness, while the pic was a modest hit there in the US, the last installment made over $300 million worldwide.
What exactly will RETRIBUTION be about? Who knows, zombies, probably. But the shoot takes place in Toronto and Tokyo some maybe that’s a hint?
In addition to Jovovich, Sienna Guillory was rumored to be returning based on one of her own tweets but yesterday Bloody Disgusting reported that Jill Valentine will be returning for the fifth film but that Guillory will be recast.
Jovovich and Anderson last worked together on THE THREE MUSKETEERS, which hits theaters this October.
