Blade Runner webseries

If you’ve always wanted to revisit the world of director Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking and influential sci-fi film BLADE RUNNER, it sounds like you may get that opportunity. Sort of.

According to the NY Times, Scott’s commercial company RSA Films and indie studio Ag8 are putting together “Purefold”, a web series of 5 to 10 minute short films set in the dystopian future Los Angeles some time before the events of the movie.

Could be cool, huh? Except for one little snag: Ag8 won’t be using “any of the canon or copyrighted assets from the movie”, so the “Purefold” shorts will only be using themes and taking inspiration from BLADE RUNNER.

If you’re looking for a more literal new version of Philip K. Dick’s original source material, comic publisher Boom! is doing a 24-issue series based on “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”, which was adapted into Scott’s film.
