I’m not even sure what to say about this video. It’s an animated short from France titled “Tous de Monstres” (“All Monsters”) and couldn’t be further from MONSTERS INC. if it tried. It’s a NSFW tale of a hunchbacked young orphan who falls in with the freaks at a carnival show. These include a rather large woman with five (naked) breasts who takes the boy in as a mother figure. But…well I don’t want to give anything away but it gets even more disturbing than that.
While this is obviously a little too dark to ever make it to the big-screen, do you see the day when we get a big-budget R-rated animated film? I doubt we’ll ever get anything from Pixar (who didn’t even want to release the PG-13 JOHN CARTER FROM MARS under its label, despite being very clearly a Pixar film) but could or would another studio independently make something for adult audiences?
