Could Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique get her own spin-off film?

Or rather, would Jennifer Lawrence want to get back in that make-up chair for an entire movie about Mystique? With the process to change her into the character of Raven Darkholme/Mystique taking upwards of 7 hours, I imagine that would be a consideration on her part, but such are the perils of superstardom in big-budget movies. Speaking to EW, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST writer/producer Simon Kinberg sang the praises of Lawrence's portrayal of Mystique (played by Rebecca Romijn in the first three films) and feels she has a lot of potential for a solo film:

“I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.”

Now, that's just Kinberg expressing his own feelings on the issue, not a green light for the film to happen, but it does bring up the question; would audiences want to see a Mystique solo film? Certainly, there's been a lot of chatter about branching off other X-characters into their own spinoffs, including Deadpool, Gambit, and Magneto, but does Mystique merit her own movie? I'd argue that Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique in a spinoff would work, simply because it's Jennifer Lawrence, but it would be a tough sell if you pulled in someone new. I'm not saying she's the only actress that could play Mystique (and obviously hasn't been), but in terms of spinning off from an established franchise it would be a tough sell with a new (blue) face.

What do you think? Would a Jennifer Lawrence Mystique spinoff work?

You can catch Lawrence's Mystique next month in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, out on May 23, 2014.
