UPDATE: EW spoke with Gosling’s rep who confirmed that the actor will not be starring in THE LONE RANGER.
This would certainly be a great pairing, if the timing is right…
Ryan Gosling is in early talks to star in Disney’s THE LONE RANGER with Johnny Depp. If Gosling signs on he would be The Lone Ranger himself with Depp in the role of Tonto.
Sadly, Gosling’s schedule may not permit him to do the project. The actor is soon to be busy with the LOGAN’S RUN remake which will begin shooting in the fall. I really hope that he finds time to do this.
The film is being helmed by Gore Verbinski and Justin Haythe (REVOLUTIONARY ROAD) has written the script.
At one point, Depp mentioned George Clooney and Brad Pitt to possibly fight alongside him. While I really like both Pitt and Clooney, I’d like to see Gosling in this one.
