David Cross still hates doing Chipmunks movies

David Cross just showed up on Conan to talk about ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIP-WRECKED, and called it “most miserable experience I’ve ever had in my professional career”. He also talks about being “forced at legalpoint” to go on a cruise ship and wear a pelican costume, and his horrible Jewish stereotype producer, a topic Conan quickly dances away from.

This is the third CHIPMUNKS film Cross has starred in, and he’s finally out of his contract. But why did he sign up to do three of these pieces of crap in the first place? The money, of course. Way back when the first movie was released he wrote a blog defending his choice to star in it. The blog seems to have disappeared from the net but the gist of it was that he wanted to buy a cottage in upstate NYC and with the money from the first film he put a down payment on it. Can’t blame the guy for doing a job for money, really.

Still. it’s amusing to see him vent and tell people to not go see the movie he’s starring in.
