Marvel boss Kevin Feige may be busy promoting the upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision, but that doesn't mean he's opposed to discussing other MCU related projects. Feige gave an interview with Collider during his publicity rounds and the talk shifted to Deadpool 3, which is now under the Marvel Studios umbrella after the Disney/Fox merger. A lot of questions arose about what would happen with the third Deadpool film now that it's Disney adjacent but Feige is officially confirming that the third installment will definitely be R-rated and it will be an official part of the MCU.

"It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan's overseeing a script right now."

Feige also gave fans an update on when the film will begin shooting. The movie likely won't get in front of the cameras this year but he says they want to make sure that they get Deadpool's entry into the MCU just right:

"It will not be filming this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We've got a number of things we've already announced that we now have to make, but it's exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

Although most assumed Deadpool would be an official part of the MCU, some speculated that it could also be a tangentially related property due to its tone being a significant departure from other films in the MCU. Feige mentioning that they're trying to figure out how to best introduce him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows that his inclusion is pretty much a done deal.

This is probably the biggest news about Deadpool 3 since it was announced that sisters Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux were hired to take on the script with Ryan Reynolds. Getting word that they're hard at work on the script at least shows the property isn't just languishing as other projects get the go-ahead. Fans will have to be patient because the way things are going now, I'd predict that Deadpool 3 doesn't start filming until 2022 and that's because Marvel's slate is pretty full. Marvel Studios is in the midst of filming Thor: Love and Thunder and Spider-Man 3, and filming is expected to begin this year on Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had been filming in the U.K. but has been put on pause due to COVID-19 cases surging in the area.

How do YOU think Deadpool will be introduced into the MCU?
