Diane Kruger to join Saoirse Ronan for Stephenie Meyer’s The Host

From what I’ve been hearing, Stephenie Meyer’s THE HOST is a step-up from TWILIGHT. I’ve read Meyer’s work so I’m on the skeptical side. Let’s hope that this isn’t muddled with weird romance, terrible dialogue, and characters that basically have the IQ of a yardstick.

The story centers on a parasitic alien species called The Souls that have just about wiped out the human population. Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons and Jake Abel are already set to star in the film. The gorgeous Diane Kruger is the latest to join the cast.

Kruger will play, “The Seeker, who is charged with overseeing the conversion of a young rebel soldier (Ronan) whose consciousness has been infiltrated by Wanderer, a soul that has taken control of bodies and minds but who is daunted by the young human’s spirit — and obsessed with the memories of her boyfriend and her brother — and sets out to track them down. The Seeker pursues her, knowing that the conversion of the rebel will lead to the discovery and eradication of the rebel movement.”

The Andrew Niccol helmed adaptation will start production soon and is due to release on March 29, 2013.
