Diego Luna starts building his empire in first Narcos: Mexico teaser

The drug war has been a messy, violent, disorganized business – and one with no end in sight. The new season of NARCOS will track it back to its foundations with actors Diego Luna and Michael Pena leading the show. A new teaser for NARCOS: MEXICO has dropped, and it teases a violent, intense, chaotic and explosive rise of the Mexican drug cartels. Oh, and did I mention there’s torture? Because it looks like there’s A LOT of torture.

Here is the full synopsis:

“Narcos: Mexico” will explore the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots, beginning at a time when the Mexican trafficking world was a loose and disorganized confederation of independent growers and dealers. Witness the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm, unifying traffickers in order to build an empire. When DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) moves his wife and young son from California to Guadalajara to take on a new post, he quickly learns that his assignment will be more challenging than he ever could have imagined. As Kiki garners intelligence on Félix and becomes more entangled in his mission, a tragic chain of events unfold, affecting the drug trade and the war against it for years to come.

NARCOS is one of those shows everyone keeps telling me to watch but one I haven’t had time to start. It seems like this season is separate from the previous ones, so perhaps it could be a good place to start. I do love me some Pena and Luna, so with them around I’m for sure on board.

NARCO: MEXICO arrives November 16.
