Favs-less Iron Man 2?

Update: Nikki Finke of "Deadline Hollywood Daily" does a little reporting of her own and says Marvel has made Favs a handsome offer and has no intention of dumping him from the sequel. Read more about it HERE.

Jon Favreau Yipes, things just took a severe turn for the worse for the upcoming IRON MAN sequel.

Earlier today, we told you about Jon Favreau voicing concern on his MySpace blog that Marvel's proposed 2010 release date for the sequel would be a little too rushed to deliver a quality product. In that same post, he also mentioned the following: "It’s been five weeks since the one and only phone call my reps have gotten from Marvel. I know their hands are full with the Hulk and I’m sure they will get into it shortly, as they tell me they intend to. I ran into the Marvel guys at the Hulk premiere and everyone sounded eager to get to work on IM2." Five weeks and just one phone call? Something's not right about that and the folks at the IESB have recently uncovered the reason behind Marvel's reluctance to re-negotiate with Favs. Put simply, they just don't want to.

Given the overwhelming success of IRON MAN, a large part of which hinged on Favs' creative input as director, he understandably expected to be able to re-negotiate a more lucrative deal with no objection from Marvel. Apparently, he was wrong. Marvel doesn't think they need Favs for the sequel to be a success so they seem to be contemplating just dumping him and getting someone else. As of now, they're denying it, of course, and claim that negotiations are ongoing but IESB's source seems to be pretty solid. Once again, yipes. Read more about it over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Perish the thought, of course, but should the situation arise, who do you guys think could replace Favs?
