In Adam Salky’s DARE, Emmy Rossum is Alexa, a good girl who’s told she needs to break out of her shell by “living a little.” This involves hooking up with a local “bad boy” (ironically “Friday Night Lights” boy scout Zach Gilford) who also happens to catch the eye of her best friend, played by Ashley Springer. And Ashley Springer is a guy, making things all the more complicated.
The film is coming out of Sundance and is based on a short film Salky did in 2005. It’ll be hitting select theaters starting November 13th. If I had to judge from a two minute trailer, I’d say it looks good, not great, but I have to admit that pool scene really came out of left field to catch me off guard.
