Hilary Swank exposes an apocalyptic lie in the intense I Am Mother trailer

In the wake of humanity’s extinction, a teenage girl is raised by a robot designed to repopulate the earth. But their unique bond is threatened when an inexplicable stranger arrives with alarming news.

Netflix has unveiled a trailer for I AM MOTHER, an upcoming Sci-Fi Thriller that takes the concept of Stockholm Syndrome to some very dark and dangerous places in a future where an A.I. caregiver has raised a human girl in total seclusion from both her people as well as the truth about the world outside their high-tech home.

Directed by Grant Sputore, with a screenplay by Michael Lloyd Green, I AM MOTHER is based on a story created by both Sputore and Green. Produced by Tim White and Kelvin Munro, the intense thriller stars Hilary Swank (BOYS DON'T CRY, MILLION DOLLAR BABY), Clara Ruggard (TEEN SPIRIT, GOOD FAVOUR) and Rose Byrne (INSIDIOUS, SPY) as the voice of Mother.

I AM MOTHER is a sci-fi thriller about a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard), who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother (Rose Byrne), a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. But the pair’s unique relationship is threatened when an injured stranger (Hilary Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything Daughter has been told about the outside world and her Mother’s intentions.
