Hooper drives Buick 8

Stephen King loves the killer vehicles — the macabre master followed CHRISTINE and MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (well, “Trucks” anyway) with the more recent FROM A BUICK 8, which is now getting the feature treatment.

And it will come from a past collaborator, Tobe Hooper, who already adapted King with SALEM’S LOT and THE MANGLER. The two-time TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE man will tell the flashbacky tale of State Troopers who tow an abandoned car to their barracks only to slowly discover it has supernatural properties.

Hooper has been keeping a relatively low profile in recent years, sticking to TV work and a couple of not-very-good features, so lets hope King’s work brings out his best. Zombie maestro George Romero was previously planning to tinker beneath the Buick’s hood.
