Uzo Aduba to star in HBO’s revival of In Treatment

In Treatment debuted on HBO in 2008 and followed Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne), a psychotherapist who had weekly sessions with patients, but also began to question his own abilities and motives, leading him to seek help from his former mentor and therapist Dr. Gina Toll (Dianne Wiest). The structure of the series was rather interesting, as episodes aired five nights a week, with each day focusing on a different client. In Treatment aired for three seasons consisting of 106 episodes, and it was revealed earlier in the year that HBO was planning a revival of the series.

HBO has now announced that Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) has been tapped to star in the revival of In Treatment, and that production is slated to kick off this fall under COVID-19 guidelines with the series expected to debut in 2021. The In Treatment revival will bring "a diverse trio of patients in session with the observant, empathetic Dr. Brooke Lawrence (Aduba) while she wrestles with her own issues in this half-hour drama series." The three seasons of the original series found a diverse group of actors playing Byrne's patients, including Melissa George, Blair Underwood, Mia Wasikowska, Alison Pill, John Mahoney, Dane DeHaan, Amy Ryan, and more. In Treatment was always one of those shows that I meant to watch, but somehow haven't gotten around to over the past decade. Maybe this is the kick in the butt I need to finally start.
