India, David Fincher will not be censoring Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for you

David Fincher will not be censored. Has no one learned that?

If I made films that were guaranteed to be badass, I wouldn’t want to change them for any reason. Fincher feels the same way when it comes to his recent adaptation of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

The film was due to be released in India this month. However, before it could be shown it had to go through India’s Central Board of Film Certification, also known as the censor board. The board wanted five scenes cut that included nudity. That didn’t work for Fincher who stated that only an uncut version of the film could be released.

I respect others cultures and beliefs, but I also feel that if a filmmaker does not want to cut parts of their film then they shouldn’t have to just to tailor it to others.

A Sony Pictures India spokesperson said: “Sony Pictures will not be releasing ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ in India. The Censor Board has adjudged the film unsuitable for public viewing in its unaltered form and, while we are committed to maintaining and protecting the vision of the director, we will, as always, respect the guidelines set by the board.”
