You’ll see him next popping penguins, but Jim Carrey isn’t averse to returning to some of his old classic projects either. Speaking to ComingSoon, he briefly mentioned what films were being considered for a revisiting.
“We’re talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about …There’s Bruce Almighty and we’re talking about maybe another Dumb and Dumber.”
Both films have seen sequels (well, one was a prequel) that didn’t star the original cast, and subsequently didn’t live up to the first movies. Surely Carrey returning to either franchise would bolster either, but I think a new DUMB AND DUMBER project would probably get more attention.
Bobby Farrelly, one half of the directing team behind the original, has previously said that he’d be open to a sequel if he could get both Carrey and Daniels back. If Carrey’s in, I’m sure they could certainly get Daniels to join u p. Sure, it’s a sequel that doesn’t need to be made, but it could be interesting if the original cast would return.
