Josh Brolin wants to play Cable again in the MCU despite playing Thanos

Josh Brolin has been lucky enough to play two popular characters in Marvel films. The actor portrayed Thanos, who was the behind the scenes big bad of the MCU before he came into the forefront in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS: ENDGAME. He also brought Cable to life in DEADPOOL 2 which, despite being a Marvel film, was not a part of the MCU because DEADPOOL at the time was owned by 20th Century Fox. With the Disney/Fox merger, DEADPOOL is now a part of the MCU and despite playing a big role in that universe, Brolin still wants to be able to portray Cable in a future DEADPOOL film.

While speaking to "ComicBook.com", Cable creator Rob Liefeld revealed that Brolin is very eager to reprise his role as Cable in the MCU:

"I'm going to tell your viewers…Josh wants to be Cable again sooner than later. He is itching to be Cable again. He loved being Cable.. He told me he understands how beloved his role as Thanos is, but he doesn't look completely like Josh Brolin."

Brolin could possibly get away with playing Cable again despite having already played Thanos in the MCU. Thanos was a creation of motion capture and even though he has some of Brolin's features, he doesn't really look like him. The one distinct trait would be Brolin's voice, which is hard to mask, but I can't see that being much of an issue for the powers that be or even the fans. Liefeld also want to fully emphasize how much Brolin wants to be able to play the part again:

'These are Josh Brolin's own words telling me. He told me, 'Rob when I appeared as Cable in Deadpool 2, my phones rang off the hook.' It changed everything for him and obviously Josh is gonna get some career lifetime achievement award at some point. The guy is just one of our greatest actors."

Brolin did earn solid notices from critics and fans for playing the shell-shocked soldier from the future who comes back in time to kill the person who would one day destroy his family. They really nailed the look and persona of that character in DEADPOOL 2 and he ended being one of the film's highlights. It's unknown how the MCU will use Ryan Reynold's Deadpool and the supporting characters from that franchise but I wouldn't have a problem with Brolin sticking around as Cable.

Do YOU want Josh Brolin to keep portraying Cable?
