Josh Holloway addresses the Aquaman casting rumors for Batman vs Superman

Believe it or not, but those rumors of Josh Holloway being sought for the role of Aquaman in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN are just that: rumors. Rumors come in two varieties since the invention of the Internet; they are either blatant fan creations of what they would like to see happen in an upcoming blockbuster or they are sent out by the studio to gauge fan reaction. I would think the former is a lot more common as studios wouldn't make some of the casting decisions they have stuck with based on how the Internet reactions went.

When it comes to Josh Holloway being pursued for a role in either BATMAN VS SUPERMAN or JUSTICE LEAGUE, there seems to be a great deal of buzz in a positive way. Holloway has been a fan favorite since his role as Sawyer on LOST but has done very little since. He appeared as a dance coach in BATTLE OF THE YEAR and a small part as an IMF agent in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL. Recently he has been starring on the CBS spy series INTELLIGENCE. This rumor could have appeared due to his resurgence thanks to that show, but Holloway told IGN that there is not much truth to it.

"It hasn't been brought to my attention by my people," the actor said, "so maybe they're just floating it softly around, but that would be cool! Sure, I think I'm available at the moment as we just wrapped up. I'm an actor, I like different roles. Batman movies are awesome, Marvel movies are awesome. But we'll see, I'm on a series right now. I think they usually want to sign you up for several movies and I don't know if you can do that when you're committed to a series..."

While INTELLIGENCE has lost a lot of viewers since it premiered a few weeks ago, the show is still too successful to face cancellation, yet. While I think Holloway would be great as Green Arrow or Aquaman, his commitment to INTELLIGENCE could be a dealbreaker. But, never say never. With BATMAN VS SUPERMAN getting delayed until 2016, there could still be time for Holloway to get that big role.
