Laurie Holden gets a key role in Dumb and Dumber To, plus some plot details

After the casting of Kathleen Turner in an undisclosed role in DUMB AND DUMBER TO, we now have our first casting of a major role in the Jim Carrey/Jeff Daniels sequel. Laurie Holden will be joining the cast in a main role and we even have some new details on the movie's plot.

Deadline says the actress known for her recent turn as Andrea on THE WALKING DEAD will play a villainous character:

Holden will play Adele Pichlow, who is secretly poisoning her husband, Dr. Pichlow (Steve Tom) so she can run off with his money. Her nefarious plans also include killing off her step-daughter Penny (Rachel Melvin), Lloyd and Harry so she can run off with the family's handyman unscathed.

The criminal element to the story follows the similar plot from the original film featuring the late Charles Rocket. That plot involved a love triangle between Harry, Lloyd, and Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly). It remains to be seen if Holden's character will have a romance with Carrey and Daniels.

Many found Andrea to be an annoying character on THE WALKING DEAD, but I have had a crush on Laurie Holden going back to THE X-FILES. She has also appeared in SILENT HILL as well as Frank Darabont's THE MAJESTIC, opposite Jim Carrey. I like the casting and am looking forward to seeing how her comedy chops play in this long anticipated sequel.

DUMB AND DUMBER TO does not currently have a release date, but is expected in 2014 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first film.

Extra Tidbit: Brady Bluhm and Cam Neely will also be returning for the sequel as Billy from 4C and Sea Bass, respectively.
