Magneto and Beast do battle in these new pics from X-Men: Days of Future Past

JoBloJoBlo

Now that everyone has gotten a taste of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST with the release of the first trailer the excitement has grown exponentially and these two new pics from the film will likely continue that trend. The images come from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly and feature Magneto (Michael Fassbender) in flight and being overtaken by Beast (Nicholas Hoult). The two standout things I noticed with these pics are Magneto's costume, which has developed nicely since we last saw him in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and Beast's size, namely those biceps. Obviously, director Bryan Singer has made sure to show Beast's growth since "turning blue" and the physical bulk is definitely appropriate to his comic book likeness.

Take a gander:

This movie has so much potential to be the best of the X-franchise and it's my hope that it is, but you have to be careful with that as expectations can oftentimes crumble a movie experience. Still, based on all we've seen, I feel like this is headed in the right direction with a lot of care, attention to detail, and desire to please the fans with a proper X-Men story. Plus, Sentinels! I mean, c'mon, that's almost worth the price of admission alone.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hits theaters on May 23, 2014.
