Mahershala Ali & Stephen Dorff case the Ozarks in new True Detective images

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Ahead of the crime drama's January 13 premiere on HBO, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a batch of new photos for TRUE DETECTIVE Season 3, which finds Mahershala Ali (HIDDEN FIGURES, SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE) and Stephen Dorff (BLADE, IMMORTALS) investigating a crime deep in the heart of the Ozarks that spans three seperate time periods. While the new photos don't offer much in the way of action or atmosphere, they do give us a great look at some of the fresh faces we'll meet in the latest installment of the Nic Pizzolatto-created series.

In the first pic, we find Mahershala Ali's Detective Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas, and his partner, Roland West, played by Stephen Dorff. If you ask me, both characters look as if they're being made to swallow some pretty obvious lies in this image.

Another photo of the duo was also included in the reveal, this time with both Detectives Hays and West looking perplexed while in what appears to be a school gymnasium:

Next we find Ali's Detective Hays seated beside a no nonsense Carmen Ejogo, who plays Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher, in the show:

In the next photo we once again find Detective Hays, this time speaking into a walkie talkie on what looks like a gray morning in Arkansas:

As we move down the line, we're treated to a pic of Detective Hays and Ms. Reardon cautiously making their way across a wheat field:

Last but not least, we find Ali's Detective Hays, once again, this time with his arms folded while sporting a look that says to me, "What you talkin' about, Willis?":

We'll have to wait until January 13, 2019 to discover the truth being all of these pensive expressions, when TRUE DETECTIVE returns for what's hoped to be a redemptive season of crooked crimes, lurid lies, and atrocious ulterior motives.
