Mark Hamill pays tribute to Carrie Fisher on anniversary of her death

Exactly one year ago, we tragically lost one of Hollywood bright stars in Carrie Fisher, who carved out her own place in the galaxy (and ushered countless nerds through puberty) as Princess Leia in the STAR WARS movies. After decades of inspiring generations of fans, audiences got to say goodbye to her in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, and now actor Mark Hamill has taken to social media to pay tribute to Fisher on the anniversary of her passing.

Posting several photos of the actress, including two of the stars together, Hamill sent out his post with the caption “No one’s ever really gone…” followed by the hashtags “#AlwaysWithUs” and “#CarrieOnForever”

The STAR WARS universe lost another memorable character recently in actor Alfie Curtis, who played the iconic Dr. Evazan in the Mos Eisley Cantina scene in A NEW HOPE. Hamill also took to Twitter to pay tribute to him, saying a few kind words.

Losing Fisher came as a sudden and heartbreaking shock to everyone in the entertainment industry and WARS fans alike. Fisher’s death came after she was found unresponsive and not breathing during a flight to L.A., where she was rushed to the hospital upon landing. After being put in intensive care she passed away four days later on December 27. Her role in THE LAST JEDI marks her final screen appearance.

Trying to figure out how the new STAR WARS movies would handle Fisher’s passing aside, losing Fisher took an incredible toll on the fan community. After initial news broke about her being in the hospital I was sure she would pull through. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Curtis is also a sad loss for WARS fans, as his gruesome appearance in A NEW HOPE and his classic scuffle with Luke and Obi-Wan is a key moment in the movie. Hamill has always been a class act, and leave it to him to pay a heartfelt tribute to our beloved princess and general, and to one of the Cantina's most dastardly patrons.

See Fisher in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI now!
