Castlevania’s studio stirs the blood of fans with a sly Season 3 tease

Castlevania, Netflix, Season 3

What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets! But enough talk! Let's have at this news already, shall we?

While we've known since last year that CASTLEVANIA would be getting a third season on Netflix, a recent tweet from Powerhouse Animation, the studio behind Netflix's action-packed and animated vampire drama, has fans tapping their veins in anticipation of things yet to come. Here's the score. Powerhouse Animation posted a screenshot of the anime's home page on Monday, alongside the words "Castlevania season 3? Hmm, interesting."

The chief reason why Powerhouse's tweet has got fans sharpening their fangs is because many believe that a new season of the meticulously-animated series could be rising from the grave sooner rather than later. Previously, Netflix had listed a January 12 release date for CASTLEVANIA's third round of ghouls, grotesque villagers, and giant monstrosities that go bump in the night, but that date was quickly amended, leaving fans in the lurch. Essentially, Powerhouse poking their heads up is a sign that things are happening, and that's certainly better than the silence we've had for so many months.

The anime series is based on Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse from 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and man oh man is it ever stuffed with Castlevania goodness. Like, for real, this show is one of the most legit adaptations I've ever seen, and it only gets better with each and every episode. If you're a fan of the game series but have yet to check out the first two season of the show, what are you waiting for? If a fear of them besmirching Castlevania's good name is your concern, I'm here to tell you that you have absolutely nothing to worry about. It's basically VAMPIRE HUNTER D with all the bits and bobs that have made Castlevania such a legendary franchise for so many years.

Here's an official synopsis for the show:

"Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar."

For the moment, it would appear as if a tease from Powerhouse Animation is all we're going to get with regard to an update about the third season of CASTLEVANIA. That being said, it's the first whisper we've heard in a while, so perhaps a proper launch date for Season 3 is forthcoming? We'll be sure to let you know as soon as the bell tolls for more of this glorious series.
