New Logan image confirms big rumor about character

The trailer for LOGAN has given fans the appropriate amount of arousal, offering plenty to ponder over. I for one am curious about the NO COUNTRY FOR NO OLD MEN locale, but most watchers were probably wondering about the small child (Dafne Keen) featured standing next to a bloodied Logan (Hugh Jackman). Well, it turns out she’s not just a small child, but something else entirely. Dun, dun, DUN!

The Instagram page wponx (Weapon-X, if spelled by a man who failed third grade), which has given us plenty of ominous black-and-white photos from the set, recently put out what may be the most important photo yet. In it we see the young girl with the name Laura underneath, and some of you more dedicated X-Men fans may be ahead of me here when it comes to what that name means.

Created for the animated show X-Men: Evolution, Laura Kinney a.k.a. X-23, is a clone of Wolverine/Logan fit with adamantium claws, super healing, heightened senses and affinity for cigars. She even proceeds to take over the mantle for Wolverine in All-New Wolverine after the Secret Wars event. Basically, we could be looking into the small, childlike eyes of the next Wolverine. They're so cute before they go crazy.

Granted anything can be said or done to throw fans off the trail, but there's a lot that gives away this is the character the small human will be playing. For instance, we need only look at the end credits scene for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE involving the Essex corporation taking some of Wolverine's blood, and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) telling Logan/Wolverine, "She's like you, very much like you," in the trailer to safely assume she is indeed X-23. Hence this is why the two are protecting her from the aforementioned shady corporation in the trailer. That, or she cheated Essex out of 25 cents at a lemonade stand. She said they were freshly squeezed!

Having X-23 in the movie offers up many different scenarios for how the movie could play out. Most fans are probably assuming she will take up the duties of Wolverine if he *gulp* dies, which is entirely possible considering this will be Jackman's last outing as the character. With these things I like to not get too sure, so as to keep everything fresh for when I see the movie. But that probably has more to do with my habit of lying to myself. People did remember my birthday, they just forgot my number. Yeah, that's it...

LOGAN is set for March 3, 2017.
