New NSFW trailer for Amazon’s The Boys does whatever the f**k it wants

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you like your superheroes with a heavy helping of blood, guts, and sleaze, then Amazon's upcoming adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel The Boys will likely be right up your alley. The Boys is set in an America where the planet's superheroes have been morally corrupted by their celebrity status and often take advantage of their powers in reckless displays of behavior which threaten the safety of the world. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) runs a group of vigilantes known as The Boys, who do what they can to keep watch over the superheroes, and, if need be, eliminate them. The Boys are also looking to take down Vought, a giant conglomerate which manages the superheros.

A new NSFW trailer for The Boys has been released which is delightfully outrageous and certainly  leaves me wanting more. The eight-episode series comes from Eric Kripke (Supernatural) with Dan Trachtenberg (10 CLOVERFIELD LANE) helming the pilot and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg onboard as executive producers. The Boys stars Karl Urban, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Tomer Kapon, Anthony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jesse T. Usher, Chance Crawford, Simon Pegg, and Jack Quaid.

The official synopsis for The Boys:

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.

The Boys will debut on Amazon on July 26, 2019.
