Oh good, a new Twilight book being written

There’s going to be another Twilight book, and therefore I predict an inevitable new TWILIGHT movie to add onto the pile of ECLIPSE and BREAKING DAWN part I and II. It’s called THE SECOND SHORT LIFE OF BREE TANNER, and it’s a “novella” that centers around a minor character from ECLIPSE.

Stephanie Meyer is reportedly “surprised” to discover she had another book in her. Yes, I’m sure that millions of dollars for more or less glorified fan-fiction has nothing to do with it. Here’s what she had to say on her site.

“I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella. When I began working on it in 2005, it was simply an exercise to help me examine the other side of Eclipse, which I was editing at the time, I thought it might end up as a short story that I could include on my website. Then, when work started on The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, I thought the guide would be a good fit for my Bree story. However, the story grew longer than I anticipated, until it was too long to fit into the guide.”

In order to flesh out the character of Bree more in ECLIPSE, she handed the writers and David Slade manuscripts of the new book so they could develop her character more (again, surely for a spin-off film at some point). They had to burn the manuscripts afterward, because a leaked copy of a new Twilight book is the literal equivalent of the Holy Grail for a generation of teenage girls. Let’s hope it accidentally falls down a bottomless chasm LAST CRUSADE style.
