Pegg on World’s End

Why can’t Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright make a couple of movies each year? I know that patience is a virtue and all good things to those who wait and so on. Nuts to that, says I. Nuts!

Alas, waiting is what we must do for the SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ dynamic duo (and Nick Frost as the magic number), while Pegg flits through the galaxy as part of the new Enterprise crew and Wright extracts comic book expressions from humans on SCOTT PILGRIM. But they might be converging later this year, huzzah.

Pegg is currently throwing vocals for ICE AGE 3, but says they may put the cap on their “Blood and Ice Cream trilogy” in the fall with the tentatively titled THE WORLD’S END. What’s it about? A riff on disaster movies? A sci-fi flick set in the very, very, very distant future? A better version of the third PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN?

If SHAUN OF THE DEAD was about leaving your 30s and taking responsibility,” Pegg evasively explains, “and HOT FUZZ was about being a man, then the next one will be about being an old man. Being f—ing 40, which I am approaching. Edgar isn’t, the little bastard.”

Before then, Pegg and Frost will team up with SUPERBAD director Greg Mottola and an extraterrestrial for the comedy PAUL.
