Matthew Perry has signed on to play the older version of Zac Efron in the upcoming age-switch movie 17. The film will star Perry as a smart ass father who wakes up and finds that he’s back to his 17-year-old self (Efron). New Line is boasting that the film “turns the concept of BIG on its head,” but isn’t this really just like 18 AGAIN but with Matthew Perry instead of George Burns? I really thought we were done with this whole genre but I guess it’s making a comeback. Here’s praying we don’t ever see a remake of LIKE FATHER LIKE SON. I guess Perry can just be glad at this point he’s not Matt LeBlanc. Leslie Mann, who seems above this kinda material, had previously signed on to play Perry’s wife in the film. Burr Steers (IGBY GOES DOWN) will direct from a script by Jason Filardi. Filming is expected to begin next month.
