Prince dead at 57

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Prince, the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor/performer, was found dead in his home earlier this morning. His publicist confirmed this, stating that, "It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57." There are no other details at this time and the cause of death has not been released.

Having released music as early at 1978, Prince delivered his unique blend of rock, R&B, soul, funk, hip hop, disco, psychedelia, jazz, and pop for nearly 40 years. Of course, he also had a large film presence having acted in films such as PURPLE RAIN and UNDER THE CHERRY MOON and even directing the latter. His music has been used for countless films, but his most popular contributions would most likely be for Tim Burton's BATMAN.

As you no doubt have noticed, everyone has pouring their hearts out on social media over this loss, and we here at JoBlo are no different. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn't enjoyed or been touched by something Prince has taken part of, and we'll forever treasure that. Rest in peace.
