Ridley talks new Alien

So what can we expect from the ALIEN prequel that Ridley Scott is developing at Fox? Will there be an entire planet of aliens that just walk around and ride the bus to work and eventually decide to head to LV-426 to lay down some shit? Scott was out in London the other day and Empire caught up to him to see what he had to say about the direction of the prequel.

He told them, “It’s a brand new box of tricks…We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”

Well I’m not sure if that clears things up really but it’s weird to think that if ALIEN took place approximately in 2100, that the prequel would take place in 2070, which isn’t that insanely far away. One of your grandkids could be Ripley. Or Paul Reiser. Or, even better, Bill Paxton.

Scott and writer Jon Spaihts are currently working on the script and it’ll be added to Scott’s gigantic “Films to Direct” list.
