Sam Esmail and Rami Malek’s American Radical nabs writer Nazrin Choudhury

American Radical, the project that reunites Rami Malek and his Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, has found its writer in Nazrin Choudhury.

Based on the book American Radical: Inside the World of an Undercover Muslim FBI Agent, the adaptation aims to tell the true-story of Elnoury, a longtime undercover agent who joined the counter-terrorism unit after Sept. 11, 2001. In the book, Elnoury details his experience infiltrating and bringing down a terror cell that was based in the United States. Malek will star with Esmail taking up residence in the director's chair. Universal acquired the rights to the memoir written by Kevin Maurer and Tamer Elnoury back in 2018, with the intention of adapting the story into a nail-biting thriller for fans of insurrection and intrigue.

If Choudhury's name sounds familiar it's because she's currently a Co-Executive Producer on Fear The Walking Dead. She's also contributed to a number of notable shows in the past including Jack Ryan, Wayward Pines, Damnation, Houdini & Doyle, and Blood & Treasure.

As for Malek, you'll soon be able to catch him as the latest Bond villain, Safin, in Cary Joji Fukunaga's NO TIME TO DIE. In the upcoming action blockbuster, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga from a screenplay penned by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, and Cary Joji Fukunaga and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, NO TIME TO DIE stars Daniel CraigRami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana LynchBen WhishawNaomie Harris, with Jeffrey Wright, with Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes as "M." Rory KinnearAna de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, and Billy Magnussen also star.
