Schwarzenegger is “one hundred percent sure” that a Twins sequel will happen

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Last night while visiting Birmingham in England’s West Midlands region, action superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger was the focus of an intimate black tie event dubbed An Experience with Arnold Schwarzenegger. In addition to celebrating the 35th anniversary of James Cameron's THE TERMINATOR and speaking about his life-long journey of success in the realms of film and politics, everyone's favorite Last Action Hero gave his audience a significant update on the long-gestating TWINS sequel, TRIPLETS.

"Reitman is absolutely convinced that Twins 2 is going to happen,” Schwarzenegger told those in attendance. "We will do Triplets with Eddie Murphy. Danny Devito is very excited about it. Eddie Murphy is very excited about it. It will take a little bit more time to perfect the script. We have three different versions of the scripts and I think it’s almost there. It’s not there yet, but I’m one hundred percent sure that it will happen."

Previously, Schwarzenegger teased the plot for TRIPLETS, which, as stated above, still has a few kinks to iron out before camreas are set to roll.

"The idea was to have Danny Devito, myself with Eddie Murphy, be all of a sudden, the other twin – the triplet that we find. It comes out that after our mother dies, the will gets read out loud and it says you get this, and you get this and your OTHER brother gets this. And we are like, 'what, what other brother?' And then we discover that there is something off here. Then we find out about the experiment that was made and there was some black person involved.”

Thankfully, all three players of the TRIPLETS concept are still quite active in the Hollywood community. In making our way through the primary cast, we know that Schwarzenegger is preparing for the worldwide launch of TERMINATOR: DARK FATE, which is set to blast off in theaters on October 23, 2019. The cash cow Conan is also busy while contributing to David Sandberg's KUNG FURY 2, which has Arnold starring as the President of the United States of America. Meanwhile, Danny DeVito recently wrapped his part as Eddie for JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL, has another season of IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA on the way, and can be found voicing the character Bob alongside Angelina Jolie, Bryan Cranston, Sam Rockwell and Helen Mirren for director Thea Sharrock's THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN. As for Murphy, he can be found starring as Rudy Ray Moore for Netflix's DOLEMITE IS MY NAME biopic and will soon reprise his role as Akeem for COMING 2 AMERICA. Additionally, Murphy has also said that he'll be making a return to stand-up comedy sometime in 2020.

If you ask me, now feels like as good a time as any to finally get the TRIPLETS project up off the ground. Here's hoping that the powers that be can settle on a script sooner rather than later, so that production can officially begin.
