Simon Kinberg is “really proud” of Deadpool, talks sequel chances and Cable

I don't know about you, but most of us here at JoBlo are quite excited about DEADPOOL. Trailers have shown us a bloody good time and Ryan Reynolds looks like he'll be knocking it out of the park, however we know by experience that positive hype doesn't always pay off, but Simon Kinberg seems fairly confident that it will. The DEADPOOL producer spoke with Collider and said that both he and Fox are feeling "really proud" of the film.

I have seen a rough cut of Deadpool and it’s fantastic. It’s a really good movie. It delivers on the promise of the trailer…We really committed and leaned into it being R-rated. It’s just darker and edgier and weirder in the best way—like Deadpool should be—than any other movie in the genre. [Fox is] feeling good about it, we’re all feeling really proud of it.

Fox is feeling so good about DEADPOOL that talks of a sequel are already beginning to percolate. Kinberg remarked that by the time DEADPOOL debuts they should be "well into the process of figuring out a sequel.” Fingers crossed that their optimism pays off and DEADPOOL will be the winner we all hope it will be. If a sequel does come knocking, Kinberg teased that we may finally see Cable pop up in the X-Men franchise. Simon Kinberg has always wanted to see the character and even revealed that there were talks of Cable appearing in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. With director Tim Miller also commenting on Cable appearing in a DEADPOOL sequel, chances seem good that we may finally see the fan-favourite mutant in the flesh.

DEADPOOL opens on February 12, 2016.
