Sketch comedy alum Neil Casey joins Ghostbusters as the film’s villain

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Despite what some folks on the internet may tell you, the main villain of the GHOSTBUSTERS reboot is not director Paul Feig, but rather, Neil Casey. Aside from sitting pretty in above banner (original photo courtesy of Cate Hellman Photography), Casey has made somewhat of a name for himself working on several comedy shows over the past decade, such as Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer and the Kroll Show. He also happens to be one of the actors on Paul Feig's Yahoo! original show, Other Space. There were no details given as to what his character, Rowan, is up to aside from being "the villain." If I had to John Madden this thing, I would say that he would probably be opposed to what are protagonists are doing.

I can't say I'm familiar with Neil Casey's work in front of the camera (despite bit parts in shows like The League and Veep), but it certainly doesn't hurt to have a writer on-set, just in case. Casey will be joining the recently announced Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Cecily Strong, and Matt Walsh. If I was a betting man, I'd say there's room for Dan Aykroyd in there somewhere…

GHOSTBUSTERS will make it's way to theaters on July 22, 2016.
