Steven Soderbergh has been inspired by Channing Tatum’s stripper days

I thought Steven Soderbergh wanted to retire…guess not.

Instead the director has been inspired by the former stripper days of actor Channing Tatum. Those wonderful days when old drunk ladies would shove dollars into his banana hammock while Tatum danced to the Backstreet Boys “Larger Than Life”. Tatum has no shame about his pants dropping days and apparently his old school stories are the stuff that movies are made from.

Soderbergh said this, “When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I’d ever heard for a movie. I said I wanted in immediately. It’s sexy, funny and shocking. We’re using Saturday Night Fever as our model, so hopefully we’re on the right track.” Tatum then added, “This was a wild and pivotal time in my life and I couldn’t be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven.”

Soderbergh will film Mr. Tatum’s wild ride after doing LIBERACE with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. Then after the stipper movie, the director hopes to start shooting THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. with George Clooney.
