Superintelligence trailer finds Melissa McCarthy saving the world from A.I.

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Melissa McCarthy has returned with a new comedy, and this time, the fate of the world is hanging in the balance. HBO Max have released the first trailer for SUPERINTELLIGENCE, a sci-fi/romantic comedy in which McCarthy stars as Carol Peters, the most average person on Earth who becomes the focus of a powerful artificial intelligence (James Corden) who must decide whether to enslave, save, or destroy humanity, which means that it's up to Carol to prove that people are worth saving. Are we though? If you're already not a fan of Melissa McCarthy, I can't imagine that this one is going to change your mind.

SUPERINTELLIGENCE was originally slated for a theatrical release, but director Ben Falcone later decided that a streaming service was the best fit for the movie. It was also announced today that HBO Max will be launching a 20 Days of Kindness campaign on behalf of SUPERINTELLIGENCE, which will find the streaming service highlighting and donating $20,000 to a different cause each day for twenty days, all while encouraging others to participate as well.  AT&T kicked off the campaign by making a $1 million contribution to Girls Who Code. In addition to Melissa McCarthy and James Corden, SUPERINTELLIGENCE also stars Bobby Cannavale, Brian Tyree Henry, Jean Smart, Sam Richardson, and Ben Falcone.

The official synopsis for SUPERINTELLIGENCE:

An all-powerful Superintelligence (James Corden) chooses to study the most average person on Earth, “Carol Peters” (Melissa McCarthy), the fate of the world hangs in the balance. As the A.I. decides to enslave, save or destroy humanity, it’s up to Carol to prove that people are worth saving.

SUPERINTELLIGENCE will debut on HBO Max on November 26th.
